Leadership to Keep Children Alcohol Free
Leadership to Keep Children Alcohol Free, a unique coalition of Governors' spouses, Federal agencies, and public
and private organizations, is an initiative to prevent the use of alcohol by children ages 9 to 15. It is the only national
effort that focuses on alcohol use in this age group.
The Century Counci
The Century Council is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to fighting drunk driving and underage drinking.
Headquartered in Washington, D.C. and Chaired by Susan Molinari, The Council develops and implements innovative
programs and public awareness campaigns and promotes action through strategic partnerships. The Century Council
promotes responsible decision-making regarding drinking or non-drinking of beverage alcohol and discourages all

The Higher Education Center for Alcohol and other drug abuse
The Higher Education Center's purpose is to help college and community leaders develop, implement, and evaluate
programs and policies to reduce student problems related to alcohol and other drug use and interpersonal violence.
The Center favors a comprehensive approach to prevention. Central to this approach is a mix of environmental
management strategies to address the institutional, community, and public policy factors that contribute to these
problems.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD)

life. We are many colors with one voice. MADD is not a crusade against alcohol consumption - MADD's mission is to
stop drunk driving, support the victims of this violent crime and prevent underage drinking.

The Cool Spot
The Cool Spot was created for kids 11-13 years old by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA).
The NIAAA is the lead U.S. agency supporting research into the causes, prevention, and treatment of alcohol
problems. It is a component of the National Institutes of Health, within the U.S. Department of Health and Human
Services.
Too Smart To Start
Too Smart To Start is a public education initiative sponsored by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services
Administration (SAMHSA) to provide research-based strategies and materials to professionals and volunteers at the
community level to help them conduct an underage alcohol use prevention program. The materials are designed to
educate 9- to 13-year-olds about the harms of alcohol use and to support parents and caregivers as they participate
in their children’s activities.
Underage Drinking Enforcement Training Center
The Underage Drinking Enforcement Training Center was established by the Office of Juvenile Justice and
Delinquency Prevention (within the U.S. Department of Justice) to support its Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws
Program. The Vision of the Underage Drinking Enforcement Training Center is to create healthier and safer
environments in which States, local communities, and Federal entities engage in environmental prevention and
enforcement practices that proactively and effectively limit youth access to alcohol and significantly reduce harmful
consequences associated with alcohol use by underage youth.
Youth in Action
Instead of targeting high school students with a message, Youth In Action looks at the whole environment that seems
to condone underage drinking. From the store clerk who doesn't check IDs, to the police officer who might pour out the
beer and send teens home, to the adults who don't mind buying beer for a kid who slips him an extra $10 -- YIA teams
look for community solutions instead of focusing their attention on their peers. Teams focus on laws and policies that
affect people's behavior, because that's the best place to make changes.

Join Together leads initiatives to help communities respond to the harms caused by excessive alcohol and drug use

National Families in Action (NFIA)
National Families in Action was founded in Atlanta, Georgia in 1977. Its mission is to help families and communities
prevent drug use among children by promoting policies based on science.
Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD)
To provide students with the best prevention and intervention tools possible to deal with the issues of underage
drinking, other drug use, impaired driving and other destructive decisions.
Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP)
The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) provides national leadership, coordination, and
resources to prevent and respond to juvenile delinquency and victimization. OJJDP supports states and communities in
their efforts to develop and implement effective and coordinated prevention and intervention programs and to improve
the juvenile justice system so that it protects public safety, holds offenders accountable, and provides treatment and
rehabilitative services tailored to the needs of juveniles and their families.
Parents-The Anti Drug
TheAntiDrug.com was created by the National Youth Anti-Drug Media Campaign to equip parents and other adult
caregivers with the tools they need to raise drug-free kids. Working with the nation's leading experts in the fields of
parenting and substance abuse prevention, TheAntiDrug.com serves as a drug prevention information center, and a
supportive community for parents to interact and learn from each other.

Youth Service America is a resource center that partners with thousands of organizations committed to increasing the

Boys and Girls Clubs of America
In every community, boys and girls are left to find their own recreation and companionship in the streets. An increasing
number of children are at home with no adult care or supervision. Young people need to know that someone cares
about them. Boys & Girls Clubs offer that and more. Club programs and services promote and enhance the
development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence.
Pride Youth Programs
PRIDE Youth Programs is the nation’s oldest and largest peer-to-peer organization devoted to drug abuse and
violence prevention through education. Each year PRIDE organizes, implements, and hosts the world’s largest youth
drug and violence prevention conference. Using the vehicles of public speaking, drama, dance and song, PRIDE
Youth Teams offer programs for students in kindergarten through college.
National Parent Teacher Association (PTA)
As the largest volunteer child advocacy association in the nation, National Parent Teacher Association (PTA) reminds
our country of its obligations to children and provides parents and families with a powerful voice to speak on behalf of
every child while providing the best tools for parents to help their children be successful students.
